Flight attendants just got more stylish.
Hainan Airlines' has unveiled its new cabin crew uniforms and it's airline fashion on point.
The
new designs are among the most beautiful uniforms the industry has
seen. Not since Etihad introduced its Ettore Bilotta-designed uniforms
in 2015 has there been so much excitement or glamour surrounding
in-flight couture.
Hitting the runway at the Paris Couture Week Fall/Winter 2017, the Chinese airline's new uniforms, designed by Laurence Xu, are an aesthetic fusion of East and West.
The uniforms combine the look of the Cheongsam, a traditional Chinese dress for women usually worn on formal occasions, with a Western-style suit. Pieces also feature Chinese-influenced prints, such as the Roc – a mythical bird.
The looks are given a modern twist with Western additions, such as tailored coats and capes in muted grey and beret-style hats.
Xu wanted to combine "classical, time-honoured Oriental aesthetics and the silhouette of a modern Western suit” for the Hainan collection.
Men’s version of the uniform is a bit less extravagant and Western-looking, with double-breasted overcoats and smaller elements of the traditional Chinese culture.
